Celebrating mums – for Mother’s Day (and every day!)

This Mother’s Day, we wanted to showcase some of the working mums behind Manhattan Maids, so we invited three much-loved members of our national team to share some insights into their own motherhood experiences, the challenges they’ve overcome to create a safe, fulfilling life for their family and why they find helping other working mums so rewarding.

Meet some of our Manhattan Maids mums!

Ludmila, Quality Assurance Manager, Perth:

‘I moved to Australia from Brazil in 2017. Since I was young, I have always wanted to live abroad. I was excited for a fresh start and the opportunity to build a life in a country with a better quality of life and safety,’ says Ludmila about the motivation that led her to an exciting new career journey in a management role with Manhattan Maids.

Since joining our team, she says she’s felt ‘more confident and empowered’.

‘I’ve gained new skills, made lovely friendships, and the rewarding feeling of helping someone is priceless.’

Saying goodbye to the life she’d always known in her quest for a better life took courage and resilience, she says.

‘Even though I spoke some English, the language barrier was tough – especially in everyday conversations and job interviews,’ says Ludmila.

‘I also missed my family and Brazilian culture deeply (especially the food, haha). It takes time to find your feet in a new country, and the first years were definitely challenging.’

But, Ludmila says, ‘the Manhattan Maids team has been such a big part of my journey’.

‘The clients who appreciate the work we do make me feel seen and valued. I love the satisfaction of bringing calm, freshness, and comfort into people’s homes. Knowing that my work makes someone’s day easier or brighter is a great feeling. I also appreciate the flexibility and how it supports me as a mum.’

Balancing motherhood with work?

‘It’s definitely a juggle,’ Ludmila admits. ‘What helps me is staying organised, accepting that some days won’t go as planned, and asking for help when I need it. My tip? Be kind to yourself.’

Camilla, Area Manager:

Although she originally came to Australia to learn English, Camilla says ‘it quickly became so much more than that’.

‘I fell in love with the lifestyle, the people, and the sense of freedom and opportunity this country offers. It felt like a place where I could truly build something meaningful—for myself and for my daughter.’

She was looking for a fresh start, for personal and professional growth, and, most importantly, a safe and stable future for my child.

‘I wanted to find a place where I could feel supported and confident in chasing a better life.’

Since joining the Manhattan Maids team, Camilla says she’s gained ‘more than just a job—I’ve gained a support system’.

‘We genuinely help and lift each other up. That sense of belonging has made me feel more grounded and connected—not just to the team, but to Australia as a whole.’

What she loves most is that ‘we’re helping other mums and busy families—people just like me’.

‘We give them something so valuable: time,’ Camilla says. ‘Time to focus on their careers, their families, their passions, or simply to rest. It feels good knowing that we’re making someone’s life a little easier.’

 Carolina, Quality Assurance Manager, Melbourne:

After taking the time to reflect on how much she has achieved and grown to come to Australia and build a successful career in a new community, Carolina says she is both proud and grateful.

‘Starting our family in 2015 with our sons and seeing them thrive in this safe and opportunity-filled environment has been the greatest achievement of all,’ she says. ‘I’m also proud of my ability to reinvent myself, embrace change, and keep learning and growing with every new experience.’

And she’s looking forward to a bright future.

‘In 2025 and beyond, I’m excited to continue growing with Manhattan Maids, embracing new opportunities, and building my skills,’ Carolina says. ‘At the same time, I’m committed to creating meaningful moments with my family, cherishing the time with my sons and my husband. Striking the right balance between personal and professional life is always a priority, and I look forward to navigating it with intention and gratitude.’

Her advice to other mothers is ‘to be kind to yourself, take one day at a time, and celebrate the small victories’.

Wise words…and worth remembering – on every day of the year.

Happy Mother’s Day – from all of the working mums that make Manhattan Maids so successful, to YOU!
